The Story Behind “Angel on Whiskey”
When I sat down to write Angel on Whiskey, I wanted to capture the essence of someone who embodies both grace and grit. She’s the kind of woman who leads with her heart—kind, faithful, and grounded—but when the mood strikes, she’s not afraid to let her hair down, pour a drink, and embrace life unapologetically.
The song was inspired by the idea that people aren’t one-dimensional. Faith and fun can coexist. There’s beauty in balance—being wholesome yet knowing how to cut loose and laugh without caring what the world thinks. It’s about freedom and authenticity, about celebrating a full and joyful life, imperfections and all.
Angel on Whiskey paints a picture of a woman who loves deeply, prays often, yet also believes in a celebrating joy and togetherness with a night of dancing or storytelling over drinks. She doesn’t see her moments of fun as contradictions to her faith but rather as part of the richness of life. Her ability to embrace all sides of herself is what makes her so magnetic.
I hope this song reminds listeners that life is about balance—letting yourself be both angelic and spirited. And above all, it’s about loving yourself and others without judgment.
As part of the creative journey, I even choreographed a line dance lesson to this song! Dancing brings people together in such a joyful way, and I’d love to see how Angel on Whiskey inspires your moves. Feel free to create your own line dances, post your videos, and share them!
